Visitors to Colwyn Bay’s soon to be opened new water sports ‘hot spot’ Porth Eirias will be able to safely take in the magnificent views out over the bay thanks to West Yorkshire metalworking firm Arkoni.

The £3.5million venue, due to be officially opened later this year, on the town’s Promenade features changing rooms, a bistro, conference facilities and outdoor showers as well as a rooftop viewing area surrounded by glazed balustrades. Designed by Liverpool based K2 Architecture on behalf of clients Conwy County Borough Council, the project was delivered by Wynne Construction based in nearby Bodelwyddan.

Arkoni were on site at the venue over a three month period from December 2012 to March 2013 with the total value of glass balustrades totalling £113,000.

Arkoni MD Mark Prentice commented: “We are delighted to have been involved in such a landmark project and the glass balustrading that we designed and manufactured in house, before installing on site, will allow visitors to take in the seascape.

The balustrades represent an attractive, practical and complementary addition to the venue and fit very well with its contemporary design,” added Mark.

The new water sports venue in Colwyn Bay is an exciting new development that will benefit both residents and tourists alike on the North Wales coast and Arkoni’s expertise has only added to the attraction of the venue,” commented Adam Morgan of Liverpool based K2 Architects.
